In the summer of 1931, school leavers from the junior school wanted to join the Gwalia Football Association (Swansea & District Junior League).

Without a regular home, playing at several locations in the Lower Cwmtwrch and Gurnos area, they settled on the name Cwm WANDERERS. By 1935 the club settled at Cwmphil Park following the demise of the rugby team.

During WWII all leagues and associations were suspended, but following the war the club entered the Neath & District league in 1946 and have gone on to be the most successful Neath League team in its history winning the league on 16 occasions. The most recent of which came in 2016/17.

The first team currently play their football in the West Wales Premier League, in the fourth tier of the Welsh Pyramid.
